Ilam School of Fine Arts, University of Canterbury, 1964-1968. Graduated DipFA(Hons)
First Lieutenant. Infantry Platoon Commander NZ Territorial Army 1964-1968.

  Design
Worked extensively in field of graphic design specialising in visual identity and publication design.
Also work in architecture and the design of yacht interiors.
Work published in book Graphis Logos, The Graphis Press, Switzerland.
Won international competition in 1989 to design symbol for The European Bank for Reconstruction & Development, London/Paris. Identity implemented.
Held three photography exhibitions: 1967, 1985, 1999.
Designed extensive range of posters, logos and publications for the Christchurch Arts Festivals in the 1970’s. Several works published in Paste Up by Hamish Thompson, 2003.
Worked for NZ and international clients designing interiors for ocean racing yachts, including Round-the-world yachts, Maxis and Admiral’s Cup. Clients include Sir Peter Blake, Grant Dalton, Sir Michael Fay, Ian Gibbs, Allan Bond (Australia) and Michael Illbruck (Germany).

1999 Photographed, designed and published 156 page case-bound book Highway One, a photographic essay of NZ State Highway from Cape Reinga to Bluff. ISBN 0-473-06088-4
2005 published Highway One Australia, a 192 page case-bound photo essay of the 20,000km Highway One around Australia. Distributor, Thames & Hudson Australia. ISBN 0-476-00315-6
   
  Teaching
Full time lecturer in design at the Elam School of Fine Arts, The University of Auckland, from 1980-2005. Senior Lecturer and Head of Design.
2006: Visual communication design at AUT and boat/vehicle design at Massey School of Design.
   
  Architecture
Designed four rural houses, all built - one in Christchurch, three in Kaipara district.
Design for a house/studio in Kawhia Harbour.
Current projects: Houses in Canterbury, Lake Ototoa and Muriwai.
   
  Yachting
Represented NZ at three Olympic Games - 1964 Tokyo (Finn Class reserve), 1972 Munich (Finn Class), 1984 Los Angeles (Yachting Coach).
Won 9 National titles in Olympic yachting classes, from period 1966 to 1983 - 5 in Finns 4 in Tornado.
Represented NZ in 13 World Championships (Finn Class, Tornado Catamaran, Admirals Cup, 12 Metre America’s Cup Class). Won 3 international regattas in small boat and keelboats. 1st Kiel Week (Germany) in Tornado 1979, 1st Pacific Finn Cup (Sydney) 1966, co-helmsman/tactician on Swuzzlebubble, top boat 1981 Admiral’s Cup, Cowes, England.
2nd North American Finn Championships 1971, Toronto, Canada.
Represented New Zealand in International C Class Catamaran Challenge Trophy, Sorrento, Australia.

Member of International Jury for 2 world championships, New Zealand and Australia.
